The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is a vocational education provider in Canberra, the Australian Capital Territory, and is one of a system of TAFEs. Qualifications offered by CIT range from certificate to degree level. CIT has four campuses across Canberra, located in Bruce, Reid, Phillip and Fyshwick. CIT also has two learning centres in Tuggeranong Town Centre and Gungahlin which are primarily for students studying via flexible or distance learning.
CIT is a registered training organisation and a public vocational education and training (VET) provider and therefore offers qualifications across the full VET range. This includes statement of attainment (short course), certificate I, II, III and IV, diploma and advanced diploma. Qualifications in these categories are managed by the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) which is the national set of standards which assures nationally consistent, high-quality training and assessment services for the clients of Australia’s vocational education and training system. In addition, CIT is also an accredited provider of higher education, and has permission to deliver graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and bachelor degrees and is promoted through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).Students in these courses may be eligible to receive FEE HELP[6] (formerly HECS) in the same way university students can.
CIT has four main campuses and two learning centres throughout the ACT. Reid campus. The Reid campus is located on Constitution Avenue in the suburb of Reid in the centre of Canberra. It is 900 metres (10 minutes walk) from the Canberra city centre which includes shops, cafes, supermarkets, a movie theatre and Canberra's main bus interchange. Reid campus facilities include: a student services hub, CIT Student Association office, book shop, coffee shop, canteen, cafe, restaurant, child care centre, learning centre (library), squash courts, retail produce shop, and a student-run hair dressing studio, beauty salon and travel agency. Paid parking is available all day directly opposite CIT. For those catching public transport some buses stop at CIT directly while others can be caught by walking into the Civic bus interchange.
