Arkansas Hospitality Association is a non-profit organization having several organizations working under it. To name the few, Arkansas Lodging Association, Arkansas Restaurant Association and The Arkansas Travel Council that works with the main organization to promote public awareness regarding the industry and  offers training and education programs on food and alcohol safety, student training programs and more to build the future of the hospitality industry in Arkansas. Arkansas Hospitality Association has come up with a hospitality industry scholarship for entering Freshman, with the individual awards ranging from $ 500-$ 2,000for the 2010-2011 academic year. The partial fund contribution had been provided by the Co-Branded Scholarship Program of the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The Ecolab Scholarship Competition is for students pursuing an A.A or B.A degree in hospitality or hotel management on a full time basis. The applicant is expected to be enrolled or planning to get enrolled in full time in a U.S. baccalaureate or associate hospitality degree-granting program for both the upcoming fall and spring semester. The Scholarship awards are $2,000 for Baccalaureate Majors & $1000 each for Associate Majors , with 12 student benefiting from this scholarship. The scholarship is self nominated so it does not require an applicant to be a student of particular school or to be nominated by the school.  The application deadline is June 1, 2010. Hyatt is a leading name in hotel industry. This fund was established with the sole aim to bring encourage maximum number of minority students take up a degree in hotel management and therefore make a career in hospitality industry. Since its inception around 254 students have received $ 508,000 through this scholarship. You can be one of them, if you fell you are the appropriate person for this scholarship make an inquiry in the dean’s office for nominating your name and getting the application form. Eligibility Criteria: A U.S. Citizen or a permanent student Of minority descent: American Indian, Alaskan Native, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and African-American Enrolled in atleast 12 credit hours for upcoming fall and spring semesters or just the fall semester if graduating in December, in baccalaureate hospitality management programs.
