Alvin Cox Memorial Scholarship is given in the memory of Alvin J. Cox who throughout his life worked in finding financial assistance for those who were unable to afford college tuition.
Through the Alvin Cox Memorial Scholarship his family members have kept his mission alive. The scholarship is meant for college students who are in need to funds for their education.
For the year 2010, 15 individual scholarships will be issued each worth $ 700. For the candidates to be eligible they must be enrolled or have been accepted to enroll in college during summer or fall semesters of 2010.
Even the high school students enrolled in dual credit courses can also apply. The best part is there are no parameters decided for eligibility, any student can apply irrespective of their financial status, race or nationality.
No application document is used, the candidate needs to put his name, e-mail address, academic year and essay (2 pages on “your reason for deciding to attend college”) and send it to scholarship@alvincoxmemorial.com on or before May 31, 2010.
