Cancer Survivor Scholarship
It is said that life is a full of surprises, good as well as bad. Good surprises bring joy and happiness in the family in the same way bad surprises leave their indelible marks of grief and sorrow. There are countless number of families which have been greeted with the bad surprise of Breast Cancer. Some are fortunate and surviving but there are many who have not been so lucky and left behind their children to mourn their loss. The Pink Rose Foundation Inc. has come up to wipe the tears of such children and help them to come out of their grief and look ahead towards life with positivity. The Pink Rose Foundation was created to provide scholarships to such children and support them for their education. Pink Rose Breast Cancer Scholarship is for those children who have lost their parent or legal guardian due to breast cancer. Eligibility: Must be US Citizen or permanent US resident Must be between 18-25 yrs Must have lost a parent or legal guardian The $ 1,000 scholarship for college students will be awarded to those who fulfill all the eligibility criteria. Close to three decades ago a boy called Jeff Apodaca was detected with cancer a rare and malignant form of soft muscle sarcoma. After fighting a tough battle Jeff survived, his family members and community partners sponsor the “Annual Celebration of Life” gala fundraiser. The recipients are awarded with the $ 5000 scholarship during this event. Each year the Jeff Apodaca Celebration of Life event celebrates the new life of the survived recipient and wishes for their bright future. After a long battle with cancer many have got a new lease of life. Some are cured completely and some are still undergoing the painful treatment to get cured.
