Disability of any form and type should not be a hitch for any students, Sertoma a service organization has come up to help the hearing impaired students who face unique challenges in the traditional learning environments. The scholarship is meant to relieve some of the tension associated with the college. The Sertoma is a scholarship is for students with clinically significant bilateral hearing loss. The best part is the funds received can be used for any term including the time and year of the scholarship awarded. Eligibility Criteria: Citizen of United States Minimum 40dB bilateral hearing loss as revealed in audiogram by an SRT of 40dB or more than that in both ears Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in any discipline, students of associate degrees, graduate degrees, community college or vocational programs are not eligible. The California-Hawaii Elks Major Project Inc. board of trustees have made up their mind to give away more than $ 40,000 for academic year 2010-2011 in the form of scholarship for students with disabilities. It’s an undergraduate educational scholarship which will give four year’s assistance to the recipient of the scholarship. The scholarship amount is $ 1,000 to $ 2,000 each and which will be given to 20 to 30 students. It’s a need based scholarship and the funds are intended to be used to cover the academic expenses, tuition, books, lab fees and on-campus room and board. Candidates with physical impairment, visual impairment, neurological impairment, hearing impairment or speech-language disorder. This scholarship is a financial needs-based and academic use scholarship intended for undergraduate work at a licensed vocational school, accredited community college or four-year college. The funds are to cover academic expenses: tuition, books, lab fees and on-campus room and board.
