The American Legion is a patriotic veteran’s organization, known to be the largest service organization which is ahead in mentoring and sponsoring youth programs. To be more precise it is a non-partisan, not for profit very influential organization and handles issues related to veteran’s rights and quality of life.
Through its scholarship program the organization supports U.S Veterans and their children to pursue their education. The Samsung American Legion Scholarship is one of them. It is more of an appreciation for U. S Veterans who rendered their help to Korea during Korean War, a struggle against communist forces.
The scholarship is offered by Samsung and will be administered through The American Legion. The scholarship funds for undergraduate study from an accredited U.S College or University
Eligibility:
- Applicant must be direct descendant (child, grandchild, great-grand child or legally adopted child) of a U.S veteran who served during war period.
- High school juniors who participate in and complete either an American Legions Boys State or American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program

The number of awards and amount will be decided depending upon the funds received from the Samsung American Legion Scholarship Trust. Roughly the scholarship amount ranges from $ 1,000-$20,000. The application must reach the your Boys/Girls State Program Officials no later than June 1, 2010
