The Ryan Mullaly Second Chance Fund is a non-profit organization offering scholarships to young people who are battling for life from the life threatening disease cancer. It becomes the pressing need for the cancer patients to spend time more in hospitals and less in school or other extra curricular activities. Also the financial burden adds to the woes of the families. The Ryan Mullaly Second Chance Scholarship is a blessing for such children and their families who are affected emotionally and financially. With this scholarship the candidate can pursue education while undergoing treatment. Eligibility: Must be citizen or permanent resident of United States Of America Diagnosed with cancer or recurrence of cancer between age 13 and graduation Underwent treatment of cancer while in high school Has the history of treatment –chemotherapy and radiation or both Must be 22 or younger Currently enrolled in a college for 2 year or 4 year Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree and in an accredited post secondary vocational or trade programs Each winner will receive the award of $ 1,000. Reaching Out To Cancer Kids (R.O.C.K) program, of the American Cancer Society is especially devised to scholarship opportunities to the cancer survivors. It provides them the necessary funding to pursue their undergraduate degree from accredited Florida University, Community College and Vocational Technical School. Eligibility: Must be a cancer survivor Diagnosed with cancer before age 21 Must be under 21 to apply Must be resident of Florida Currently enrolled in an accredited school in Florida Scholarship details: The college scholarship worth $ 3,000 is for tuition plus $ 300 per year for text books. Scholarships are limited to a maximum 130 semester credit hours over a maximum of five years or whichever comes first. Close to three decades ago a boy called Jeff Apodaca was detected with cancer a rare and malignant form of soft muscle sarcoma. After fighting a tough battle Jeff survived, his family members and community partners sponsor the “Annual Celebration of Life” gala fundraiser. The recipients are awarded with the $ 5000 scholarship during this event. Each year the Jeff Apodaca Celebration of Life event celebrates the new life of the survived recipient and wishes for their bright future.
