The Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) needs a special mention for the work they are doing. It is a non-profit organization that has taken up the task of conservation and preservation of the travel resources worldwide.
Through the Teen Travel Writing Scholarship they are promoting responsible journalism and share their travel experiences with SATW. A travel experience of yours either alone or with your family can make you the winner of this scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Those who want to participate must sign up for the travelBIGO.com community
- Candidate must be between 13-18 years of age attending grades 8-12 as of May 15, 2010
- Candidate must be a junior high or high school student in United States or Canada or an American school abroad or be enrolled in a U.S homeschool program
- The travel experience you write about must have occurred within the last three years
Entering into the scholarship is simple, you need to submit an essay of not more than 600 words describing the place you went and what it meant to you, what worked and what didn’t work, what you learned from the trip, or how it changed you. Bring other travelers into the world you visited. It can be funny, serious, contemplative, whatever… as long as it’s informative.
The top three winners will receive cash awards while the twenty finalists will win honorable mention and a travel prize $, 1,000, $500 & $200 respectively. The last date for the submission of the essay is August 1, 2010, entries reached after this date will be disqualified.
