University of Texas-Pan American has several scholarships and grants program for students to pursue their studies further. One such scholarship is for veteran students from Rio Grande Valley Soldiers who have served our country in active duty.

The UTPA Valley Heroes Memorial Scholarship is to commemorate those men and women soldiers from Rio Grande Valley who served our country in the Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom and gave away their life to serve the cause of the country.

The Scholarship is meant for those students who served our country in active duty for a minimum of 6 months. Apart from this the student

Must be an undergraduate student

20+ ACT or 930 SAT (if Entering Freshmen)

Enrolled atleast half time (6 credit hours)

Must have 3.0+ GPA (if returning or transfer student)

The scholarship amount is $ 1000 which will be bifurcated and given twice in a year ($ 500 for fall & $ 500 for spring). If you fulfill all the criteria as the deadline for this 2010-2011 academic year is May 1st 2010.
