The National Film and Television School is one of the top film, television and new media schools in the world as evidenced by the Hollywood Reporter placing the NFTS in the top three non-American schools in the world. In 1982, the School changed its name to The National Film and Television School, reflecting the fact that many of its graduates went on to make their careers in TV. That same year it launched a pilot project for continuing professional development. Financed by a one-off grant from the Eady fund, this led to the establishment of the National Short Course Training Programme (now ShortCourses@NFTS), which has been running courses ever since on all areas of film and television production.
Masters Course
The individual MA course specialisations are based on learning and applying the crafts and skills of the medium. Engagement with students on other NFTS courses is emphasised so that students develop a sound understanding of how their specialist role fits into the production process.

Diploma Courses
All NFTS Diploma courses follow a strongly practice orientated curriculum that combines professional, technical and theoretical study with production. These courses are open to UK and EEA applicants only. Some of the diploma courses start in September and some in January. They vary in length from 12 to 18 months.

Short Courses
Here industry professionals can further their careers through training courses taught by experienced tutors working in film and television. We have a huge range of technical and creative courses, in everything from 16/35mm Camera to Running Your Own Production Company.
The NFTS is about 25 miles west of London in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, just off the M40. Our address is Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Bucks HP9 1LG.
