University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, also commonly known as the University at Buffalo, SUNY Buffalo, or UB, is a public research university with multiple campuses located in Buffalo and Amherst, New York, United States. The university was founded by Millard Fillmore in 1846 as a private college, but in 1962 was absorbed into the State University of New York (SUNY) system. By enrollment, UB is the largest of SUNY's four comprehensive university centers[3], and also the largest public university in the northeastern United States (comprising New York state and the New England region). U.S. News and World Report's 2012 edition of America's Best Colleges ranked UB 111th on their list of "Best National Universities", and 54th among public universities.
