Dalhousie University (commonly known as Dalhousie or Dal) is a public research university with three campuses in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and a fourth, the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus, in Truro, Nova Scotia. It is one of Canada's oldest universities, founded during British colonial rule. Dalhousie offers more than 3,700 courses and 190 degree programs, organized within the twelve undergraduate, graduate, and professional faculties and schools of the school. Dalhousie is a coeducational university, with more than 18,000 students and over 110,000 alumni. Dalhousie's varsity teams, known as the Tigers, compete in the Atlantic University Sport conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture varsity teams are referred to as the Dalhousie Rams, and compete in the ACAA, and as members of the CCAA.
