EOU was founded in 1929 as a teachers college and today serves as a regional University and center for education, culture and scholarship. EOU is located in La Grande, Ore., on I-84, 259 miles east of Portland, Ore. and 177 miles west of Boise, Idaho.In 2010-11, the EOU Foundation provided $220,000 for scholarships to students at EOU and at partner institutions OSU, OHSU and TVCC. The Foundation finished the last fiscal year with total restricted new gifts above $600,000 and its endowment is just over $5.8 million. In 2008 an anonymous donor gave $1.5 million that will help launch a $10-15million fundraising campaign.EOU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
