Although CQ TAFE first became an Institute in 1994 with the amalgamation of the Rockhampton, Central Highlands, Gladstone and Mackay TAFE colleges, its origins go as far back as 1889 with the formation of the Rockhampton Technical College sub-committee. More than 110 years later the Institute reached its first significant milestone by being named the Winner of the Large Training Provider of the Year at the 2000 Queensland Training Awards. The Institute won the award again in 2002 and 2003. Now, in the 21st Century, CQ TAFE is looking to the future and meeting the training challenges of the years ahead.
