Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in a 4- or 5-year program leading to a bachelor’s degree in a curriculum which has been accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (or comparable accreditation in Canada and Mexico). Must have completed at least 1 quarter or semester in college prior to submitting an application, and have at least a 2.00 GPA.

Submit with a cover letter, not exceeding 350 words, explaining why the applicant believes he/she deserves scholarship (should indicate areas of railroading that might be of particular interest, and describe how his/her attributes relate to these areas); a résumé; 2 letters of recommendation (1 from a faculty member, and 1 from another faculty member, present or former employer, AREMA member, or other responsible person); and transcript from the school(s) attended.
