  • Eligibility Criteria :
    Any full-time student in a 2- or 4-year college may enter the competition. Essays may be submitted on any topic that explores the life, history and culture of Africans throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. Papers that are only polemical and offer only personal opinions are not acceptable; a research approach is required. Essays should cite the appropriate primary and secondary sources related to the topic under examination (see website for further details). Criteria include clarity, organization, originality, and documentation.
