On 17 November 2011 Cardonald College announced it had entered merger talks with Anniesland Collegeand on 28 March 2012 it was announced by Cardonald College principal, Susan Walsh, that a merger with Cardonald College, Anniesland College and Langside College was "highly likely."On 30 July 2012 the colleges agreed to push ahead with merger plans and named The Guardian reporter and Cardonald College journalism lecturer, Kirsty Scott, the Merger Communications Manager.On 28 August 2012 a formal consultation was launched and will run until 16 November 2012.

Langside College is a further and higher education college located in the Mount Florida / Battlefield region of Glasgow. It was established in 1947 and enrols over 10,000 students every year of whom over 1,500 are from countries outwith the European Union, the college currently operates in two main campuses and in over 80 community based venues spanning much of the Southside of Glasgow. Phase 1 of a newly built main campus was opened in May 2009 while phase 2, incorporating new sport, music and drama facilities, was opened in August 2010. The final phase - an outdoor sports facility - was completed in February 2011. This means the whole project was completed on time and under budget and provides a top-class learning facility for the twenty-first century. The Langside Campus sits very close to the rail network and several major bus routes. The city centre is only 7 minutes away by train of which there are 4 every hour from Mount Florida railway station.
