Bethel University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate and master’s degrees. Bethel’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree has been awarded full approval by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. It is also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Bethel University Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).Bethel is a private, 4-year institution affiliated with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Bethel College was granted a charter by the State of Tennessee in 1847 and operated as Bethel College until 2009 when its trustees voted to change its name to Bethel University.
