Canning College offers a wide range of high quality short courses that allow members of the community, over the age of 16, to improve career prospects, explore areas of interest and prepare for future studies. The facilities are excellent with air-conditioned classrooms, a modern library and cafeteria and high speed Internet access in all computing labs. The highly qualified and motivated staff use current learning technologies such as multimedia projectors and online resources to create a vibrant adult learning environment. Some courses are offered over 8 weeks, meeting for 2 hours or 2.5 hours per week. A number of computing and university entrance courses are offered as one or two day workshops.
Canning College was established by the Education Department of Western Australia in 1982 to provide a re-entry for adults to return to education at a Year 12 level. Since then, Canning College has established an enviable reputation for providing excellent educational opportunities and services for people hoping to re-enter general education, often with the view of qualifying for tertiary studies. The success of Canning College's students over the past 20 plus years can be linked to the enthusiasm, patience, expertise and experience of the lecturers. There are also special support programs which help students, who are returning to formal education, cope with the demands of study.
